Homecoming Week Recap

What a week. There were many incredible things that occurred over the last week on our campus… Powder puff football, pep rallies, Friday football, and more. It was a great week to be a Blue Darter. Friday was exceptional in that our program performed literally all day long. Morning pep rally, in-class rehearsals, parade, pep rally, football game (complete with rain!) and a post-game show! And, the band was represented with FIVE, yes, FIVE, of the eight Homecoming Court candidates! Congratulations to Maria Puebla, Vianca Contreras, Stephanie Garcia, Ed Osegueda, and Michael Delgado for their selection to the Court! Big congratulations goes out to Eddy and Stephanie for being crowned 2015 Homecoming King and Queen! It was also great to see 2014 King and Queen, and Blue Darter Band alums, Lavonda Pope and Sebastian Slagel!

Again, we had an incredible week. We are very proud of our accomplishments and are looking forward to the things ahead with the Blue Darter Band!

Tri State/Festival of Winds

Any Junior or Senior members who are interested in attending the Festival of Winds @ the University of South Florida OR Tri-State Honor Band @ Florida State University should see Mr. Langford this week to have your name submitted. Both of these events (occuring on same weekend) are opportunities to interact with other music students from around the region as well as with renowned conductors in performance setting. These honor bands are also great opportunities to visit the respsective college campus and learn about the offerings of those schools. If selected, there are costs associated with the events that would be paid for by the participant. More details can be obtained from Mr. L if interested.

Cheesecake Update

Cheesecake orders are going in on Monday – arrival date for the orders will be posted soon. Please plan ahead for pick up on delivery day.

Rookie Marcher Day

Saturday will be our ROOKIE MARCHER DAY as we near the mid-point of the season. This important day will be used to continue developing our marching abilities as we work to put on our 2nd and 3rd movements in the coming weeks. All Rookie Marchers should attend and all student leadership should be in attendance to assist in building our overall technique.

Wise Words of Wisdom…

Each class spoke on the topic of “He who is faithful in that which is least, will be faithful in that which is much”. Take a moment to sit down with your kids and talk about the importance of the small details! As we say in the room all the time…. EVERYTHING MATTERS!
