We had a SPECIAL NIGHT in APK! We were honored to host the University of Miami BAND OF THE HOUR Marching Band as they were traveling towards Tallahassee for their game against FSU. We had the unique opportunity to trade some tunes with them during pre game warm up as well as they performed for our crowd at halftime! (And who can forget the lights????) It was also a special moment for our kids to look over prior to pre game and see the band of the hour in the endzone ready to watch our performance! All in all this was truly a special night for the band!

In post game performance, our Blue Darter Marching Band gave a great performance of our 1st and 2nd movements of MIXTAPE! We are looking forward to a great week ahead – one that will hopefully see us COMPLETE our show! Be sure to check the Band Facebook Page for videos!

And lastly, we ended with a BLUE DARTER VICTORY! 46-17 over Olympia! All in all, this was one special week for our Band! THANK YOU to everyone who had a hand in making it a tremendous success!

Wise Words of Wisdom…

I had a unique opportunity to speak with several classes about the concept of “Buy In” this week. I have been most impressed with our rookie members this year and their level of buy-in. Any organizations succeed because of this concept and it was a great opportunity for me to show gratitude for their commitment to our program. In our chats, we were able to discuss the importance of buy-in and why it is a natural part of success for any organization. Many of our members will ultimately lead organizations and businesses one day soon and with that comes the responsibility of connecting your employees into the philosophy of the group… Ultimately leading to their “buying into” the team.

I love teaching band. There are so many parallels to life that some days you feel overwhelmed by how many lessons you want to share with them as we tangibly learn them within our program. I continue to encourage each of you as parents and students to connect as a family and discuss these topics to continually keep a pathway for communication open in the household. Ronald Reagan is quoted as saying it best… “All great change in America begins at the dinner table.” While our dinner tables have transformed over the years, never miss an opportunity to sit down and chat as a family!
