Weekly Wrap Up

We had a great travel opportunity this week to Edgewater! The resilience of the membership to roll with the weather and things that have come our way this week has been astounding. The game experience was awesome and we helped bring back a huge W! 78-0! Congratulations to the Blue Darter Football team and to our Band for a great trip to EHS! Thank you to EVERYONE who made this successful experience possible!

Bubbalou’s Spirit Breakfast!

CALLING ALL BREAKFAST LOVERS! This Saturday, from 7 AM – 1 PM at Bubbalou’s in APK, a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the band for all who say “We are with the band”! Students are asked to come out and hold signs throughout the morning to bring folks in for breakfast. We are also asking our percussionist to come in and play for a short time to help “drum up” some business for Bubbalous!

In addition to this, there is a SPIRIT POSTER CONTEST! The section that submits the winning poster will be able to come up and view the final run of the following Tuesday’s rehearsal. ALL POSTERS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY FRIDAY AT 2:15 PM for consideration. The message on the posters should focus on “supporting” the band and “coming in to help us raise money”. If possible, these posters can be kept and used for future sales/car wash efforts. BE CREATIVE AND GRAB OUR ATTENTION!

168 Project

Our members completed a week long project this past Wednesday that allowed them to chart their “168”. This number represents the amount of hours in each week. Based on their activities for the week, this project had them color code the use of their time so that at a glance they can see how they are spending their time. The impetus behind the activity is to help each member see their time management and begin using the data to either reinforce the great things they are doing or formulate a plan to better use their time. Parents are encouraged to sit with their students and review this plan to help them gain a better understanding of how their schedule as it stands would hold up in life beyond high school. Knowledge is power. Having knowledge of how we utilize our time is incredibly invaluable to our growth as not only musicians, but as people.
