Been a great week of growing and supporting the Blue Darters! We had an awesome time at our game against Ocoee as we provided a great Home Field “feel” for our boys in Blue and White! Thrilled to see them win 41-12 and continue their success under first year coach, Jeff Rolson.

CONGRATULATIONS to each of our members that auditioned for All State this weekend! We are proud of you and your commitment to excellence as a performer! Daniel Harshman, Matt Murphy, Kelsey Castillo, Joseph Wright, Ben Green, and Sylvester Johnson…. We are PROUD OF YOU!

Each of our classes continued to roll up the sleeves and get to work, focusing their efforts on the tedious side of technique and developing the “raw talent” that sits in our rehearsal environment! Great week for the Blue Darter Bands! #iegyb

Exciting week as the BDMB finishes up Mvt. 2 as well as performs at Dr. Phillips with the FULL UNIFORM ON for the first time this season! We look forward to our debut night in the uni’s!

We have our annual band pictures to kick off the week! Previews will take place on Thursday, December 5th, prior to our opening night of our Winter Prism concert. #iegyb

I am so proud of how this year has started off for the Blue Darter Band. There is much energy in each class and clear direction towards the growth that will take place throughout the year ahead. Each period took time to discuss the concept of EXPECTATIONS this week and holding ourselves as well as each other accountable to a new level of performance both in and outside the ensemble setting. We talked about GOALS and how our AIM (all of the work we put in!) must point towards our goals, otherwise, we will come up short every time. There is an immense amount of untapped potential in each of our members and we are working to push each of them to fulfill their goals through this new level of EXPECTATION. Take some time to chat with your children and discuss their goals to better understand how you can help them AIM! Check out their 168 to see how their week has mapped out!

Playing tests have been AWESOME! Our members are showing growth and pushing themselves! Can’t wait to hear them this week! #iegyb

It is GAME WEEK! Without a doubt, the BDMB is ready to light up Roger Williams Field for an incredible start to our 2019 Home slate of football! We are excited to debut one of our transitions, the football PreGame show which will begin at 6:50 PM prior to the 7 PM Kick Off! Be sure to tell you friends and family to get to the stadium early to experience the fun and excitement as we kick off Fall 2019! As we enter this game week, take time to review our attendance policies and “Home Game Procedures” below to ensure each of our members are meeting the expectations, while also understanding the consequence for falling short. Our success lies in the spirit of each member putting forth max effort to ensure their schedule is ready and that they have mapped out their time demands to enable a successful week ahead.

Can’t wait to experience the BDMB and Blue Darter Football this week! GO BIG BLUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEE! #iegyb

BDMB Game Week Updates

Rehearsals (Tu/W/Th) will be graded for attendance (complete) as well as quality. Students should be engaged and giving max effort to achieve the goals set forth in each setting. Students that miss will be placed on our “benched” list and not allowed to perform at PreGame or Halftime. Missed rehearsals will result in missing the instruction given and any updates/changes/improvements that are installed. Missing the rehearsal, regardless of reason, excused or unexcused, will preclude said member from getting the changes within the ensemble setting. Students that are ill should communicate with Mr. Langford immediate to ensure they are accounted for regarding their status. This will still place them on the benched list, however, they will have the opportunity to make up the missed time via individual practice sessions set up with the Directors and student leadership. Attendance at the game is still mandatory as they will perform in the stands. Being at rehearsal (Aware, Prepared, On Time, & Involved) is part of the commitment to performance. Those students operating on 50/50 will need to meet with Mr. Langford to ensure they are in compliance with the agreement and meet the requirements for the week. Beyond this week those students utilizing the 50/50 option will be able to fulfill their duties on their own.

50/50 Students (Volleyball/Football) should set up a time to communicate with Mr. Langford THIS WEEK to cover their PRACTICE OVERLAPS as well as PERFORMANCE OVERLAPS and how we are going to plan ahead for them. It is the individual member’s responsibility to come to Mr. Langford to set up a time to chat. When you come, bring a copy of your athletic practice and game schedule in hand so we can map out a plan that will work for all.

Please review the below HOME GAME CHECKLIST to get a better understanding of the flow of our Home Game procedures. (From our PLAN FOR SUCCESS Handbook)

The start to the year has been incredible! While the dust is finally settling, our ensemble classes are taking shape and our members have already had their first performance test! We could not be more proud of the start of our year. Our first week has given us an opportunity to get further along with our BDMB than ever before. Our first movement was “dusted off” this week and was brought back to life through our three rehearsal sessions. Our first-ever Friday Camp was a tremendous success and allowed us to gel as a family and set the tone for many wonderful performances! The excitement that has come with our collective successes is palpable throughout our organization!

Our Jazz Ensemble classes are starting off with an exciting bang! There has been much improv, “jamming”, and reading going on allowing us to see what the year ahead will hold for our program. Many exciting things to come!

And lastly, we could not be more proud of our BDMB Pep Band’s first morning Pep Rally and our Miami trip to show RELENTLESS SUPPORT of the Blue Darters on Saturday! The energy from the ensemble, the cheer team, the student body, the crowd, the players, and the entire Blue Darter Nation was awesome! While the scoreboard came up just short, we pushed and pushed to ensure our Blue and White could feel the support and energy from the crowd. This was an unbelievable display of community from all facets of our crowd in establishing an awesome precedent for the 2019 season! #iegyb

The week ahead is one of GROWTH! We commence our annual 168 assignment! For those that are new, this is our “mapping” of our week and how we are spending EACH of our 168 hours during the week. This assignment will commence on Tuesday and will conclude the following Tuesday. For our students, this assignment will open up your eyes and help to clarify the things that are part of your normal routine thus allowing for change if deemed necessary. For our parents, this is a fantastic opportunity to to collaborate with your children and talk about the importance of time management and learning how to “budget” your time each week. High School represents such a critical time in the learning process towards maturation and learning time management is an incredible critical component of this process. Take the time to sit together and learn about our day-to-day lives and how we can always work to enhance how our time is spent.

Our ensembles will kick into high gear this week as we begin laying the groundwork for our performance goals and the fundamentals and techniques necessary to achieve the goals. In addition, we will finish up our chats on our Plan For Success, which is the name for our program handbook. The syllabus will come home this week and should be turned in by Friday. This will include a signature from both the member and parents.

Our BDMB is gearing up for another exciting week of preparation as we hold our normal Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals as well as one more Friday Camp to get ready for our home opener on Friday, August 30th. Much to prepare for this week as we get ready for an awesome home opener experience! #iegyb

We kick off our first fundraiser of 2019 with a donation campaign through Snap Raise. Members will begin the set up process this Friday as we start our Friday Camp for BDMB. This fundraiser is open to any member of the program, not just our BDMB members. This fundraiser is designed to offer an opportunity to reach out to your circle of friends, family, and abroad to help each of our members achieve their financial goals within the program. Members will need twenty working email addresses to get started as this will enable to Snap Raise organization the opportunity to reach out on our behalf to help us meet our goals! #iegyb

FSU Band Day Sign Ups will continue this week! The sheets will be on the front board in the band room.
