Scroll down for complete Weekly Update!

But before you do…… yuuuuuuummmmmmm…. you know this picture makes your mouth water! Read below as to how you can eat these AND earn money while doing it! Eating AND making money? WOW! How can this be? Read on…..!!!!!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm…….. Can you smell ’em yet?

The annual Rotary Pancake Supper will be here before you know it! 🙂 It is Friday, October 27th before our annual game against Wekiva! This year, the proceeds are being donated to the APOPKA HIGH SCHOOL BAND! So, wondering how you can help? No worries…. Here ya go!

  1. PreSale Tickets for $7.00 EACH!
  2. Turn in the money and tickets will be given to the member turning in the funds.
  3. EAT ALL OF THE PANCAKES AND SAUSAGE THAT YOU CAN HOLD IN THE AHS CAFETERIA ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27th BEGINNING AT 4:30 PM UNTIL KICKOFF!!!

We get 100% of the profit on this sale. And, for this fundraiser, we are crediting EACH SALE to the member indicated on the sales form. If you sell 1 ticket, $7.00 will be credited to your account and any outstanding fees that are owed. If your fees are already paid, we will place the money in our general fund to go towards program expenses.

SPREAD THE WORD! APOPKA NEEDS PANCAKES AND WE HAVE THEM! TELL ‘EM ALL TO GET OVER HERE AND EAT UP! 🙂

If each member of our program sold 4 tickets, we would profit over $6000 towards our program expenses! And, all for eating some scrumptious pancakes and sausage! I am pretty sure we can probably sell a few more tickets as well – let’s pack out the hall!

Dinner will be served starting at 4:30 PM on Friday, October 27th – a GREAT WAY to kick off Senior Night and Middle School night! And… In addition, we are slated to have a Double Drumline Performance in our courtyard with Wekiva High at 5:15 PM!

Ticket sales start MONDAY! Use this opportunity to earn much needed funds for our program and towards your individual expenses! Remember, $7.00 profit for EACH TICKET SOLD! And once again, bring in the $$$ and the tickets will be returned to you!

Pep Band to Jacksonville Details

We will use a set instrumentation for our trip on Friday to Jacksonville. Sign ups will occur in the following format:

  • Monday
    • Before School: Student Leadership Sign Up
    • After School: Senior Sign Up
  • Tuesday
    • Before School: Junior Sign Up
    • After School: Sophomore Sign Up
    • Before BDMB Evening Rehearsal: Sophomore/Freshmen Sign Up

We are have slots for 100 students and will take sign ups based on the instrumentation that is established for this trip as follows: 10 Flutes, 10 Clarinets, 10 Altos, 6 Low Reeds, 10 Trumpets, 4 Horns, 8 Bones, 4 Baritones, 8 Tubas, 13 Percussion, 10 Guard. The list will be tweaked as needed by Mr. Langford based on the needs of the ensemble for that evening.

PLEASE NOTE: Students wishing to attend must see Mr. Langford to sign up based on the above timeline. There will NOT be a list posted on the board. Mr. Langford will keep the clipboard in the office. Please check your schedule and availability for this trip as the departure time is less than an hour after the completion of the school day. (3 PM) We will stop en route to Jax at a food court for dinner.

We are using two Charter busses for this trip due to the fact that we cannot get our normal army of School busses for the necessary departure time for this trip.

End of 9 Weeks Binder Project

This week criteria will be posted for each class regarding the end of 9 weeks Binder Check. This will serve as a capstone grade for our first quarter to ensure each member has the right music, pedagogy documents, pencil, etc. to effectively navigate our daily rehearsal routine. Most of our members exhibit our expectation every day and have the necessary materials, however, this will serve as a great chance to ensure they have all of the music that is being performed in their classes. The binder should be a BLACK, THREE RING BINDER, just as requested on our course syllabus so that it can be used in rehearsal and stage performance.

OCPS All County Band Audition Information

This information will be shared in all classes this week as we prepare for the upcoming audition experience on Monday, November 14th at Freedom High School. The audition opportunities include 9/10 Concert Band, 11/12 Symphonic Band, and the High School Jazz Ensemble. Check in classes for this information.

Band Day @ FSU!

Great news! Our original allotment of tickets (250) was granted for our trip experience on the new date of November 18th. Kick Off for this game is not yet known so we are not able to nail down the exact schedule at this time. We will post a list later this week so we can ensure we know the exact numbers for Charter Bus purposes. If you have already paid your $10, this will be applied forward for this experience.

First Day Thoughts & Reminders!

  • Arrival… If you are not dropped off by 6:30 AM please expect delays. Arriving EARLY is not only a good habit to have, but will also serve you well in coming to Apopka High! The traffic patterns will be incredibly busy during the first few weeks and you will want to avoid the hassle of being stuck! Parent drop off is located at Gate C. (Not the band room drop off point.)
    • The Band Room will open at 7:05 AM this year, 15 minutes before the tardy bell. (Exception – Friday Morning Pep Rallies)
    • Leadership members and program members will begin setting up the room for the day and all members may come in to store their instrument for the day.
    • Students in 1st period should begin warming up and all other members should begin moving towards their 1st period to ensure they are on time and prepared for that course’s lesson for the day.
  • School ID – your school id will be used for a TON of things this year. Please ensure you have it with you at all times. Keep it close and accessible!
  • Bring your necessary gear and supplies… however… you will NOT need your instrument until DAY 2! 🙂

Updates Coming During The First Week!

  • What does a NORMAL week of school/band look like for us?
  • Alumni Band!
  • Boosters 101!
  • Handbook, Updates!
  • New things for the program in 17-18!
  • After School Jazz Ensemble
    • We will have a sign up for those interested in this ensemble. We have many students who would like to take our 4th period jazz ensemble but are unable to schedule it. This course, which will receive credit as an 8th period, will meet weekly to offer the jazz experience and open up the opportunity to perform in this idiom throughout the year.
  • 4th Period Jazz/Freshmen Members
    • If you are a freshmen member and wish to join our 4th period jazz course, please see Mr. Langford or Mr. Ellis this week so we can work with your counselor to have your schedule adjusted.
