MLK

Our MLK annual parade is on Monday! Our uniform will be JEANS and T-SHIRTS. (No Shorts) The schedule is as follows:

  • 12:15 PM Call Time/Warm Up/Rehearsal
  • 1 PM Departure
  • 2 PM Step Off
  • 4 PM Return to AHS
  • 4:30 PM JE2 Rehearsal for Wednesday Epcot Gig

Epcot

Our Epcot performances begin this week! Each date has performances at both 9:50 AM and 10:55 AM. The basic travel itinerary can be found below – this will apply to each performance for both groups:

  • 7:15 AM Call Time
  • 8 AM Depart
  • 8:45 AM Arrive/Warm Up
  • 9:50/10:55 AM Performances
  • 11:45 AM Departure
  • 12:30 PM Arrival at AHS – To Class

The performance dates/groups are as follows:

  • January 17th/JE2
  • January 20th/JE2
  • January 24th/JE1
  • January 31st/JE2
  • February 3rd/JE1

S&E Confirmation

We will confirm information with each member this week that has signed up for S&E to ensure titles, accompanists, etc. are correct. Please ensure you have the most up to date information so we can get your performance updated as needed.

Booster Meeting

We will host our Spring 2018 Booster meeting on Thursday, January 18th at 6:30 PM in the Band Room. At this meeting we will discuss our agenda and needs for the Spring semester as well as some new elements that we would like to begin working on/creating for the growth of our organization. Please make plans to attend!

Spring 2018 Calendar Updates! 

Our Program Calendar has been updated to better reflect our performance and rehearsal opportunities for the entire Spring Semester. Please take time to review these updates as a family to ensure you are prepared for an awesome Spring Performance Season!

Wolf Lake Solo & Ensemble Mentoring Opportunity! 

It is that time of the year again where we are able to use our skills and leadership abilities to both musically and positively impact the lives of our members in our Middle School programs! Our first opportunity is at Wolf Lake Middle and involves a series of “Mentoring Opportunities” that begins on Tuesday, January 9th and runs through Tuesday, February 13th from 4 PM – 4:45 PM each week. There are over 40 students signed up to perform at S&E for the Wolf Lake Band Program and we want to reach out and assist them in their preparation! Students will range in age from 6th – 8th grades and will be eager to work with the “High School” students to better their skills in performance!

This is our THIRD YEAR! for this experience and it has yielded not only numerous SUPERIOR results but has also been an incredibly positive experience in building relationships with our feeder program.

Spring After School Concert Ensemble Rehearsal Schedule

Please visit our calendar page to lock in your ensemble’s rehearsal schedule for the first seven weeks of the semester. Symphonic Band meets on Monday’s with percussion and Wind Symphony meets on Tuesday’s with percussion – each rehearsal going from 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM. Wind Symphony will have two Tuesday NIGHT rehearsals closer to MPA in lieu of the afternoon rehearsals.

Both of these ensembles, as well as our Freshmen Woodwind and Brass ensembles, and our Percussion Ensemble will perform on Tuesday, February 20th in our “Family & Friends MPA Showcase” to present all that we have been working on during the beginning of the Spring semester.

Spring Booster Meeting

Calling ALL parents! We have a Spring Booster meeting to go over all of the incredible things in store for our program! There are some wonderful things on the horizon for our program, and, we need you to help make this all that is can become! Mr. L will be reaching out to some of our Freshmen and Sophomore parents to lead some newly formed initiatives as well as connect us all to continue improving our ability to serve our members of the Blue Darter Band! Together we are STRONGER and we have a great Spring performance season in front of us to build our STRENGTH!

Jazz Ensembles Earn Performance Opportunities @ Epcot! 

Our JE1 and JE2 performance ensembles have been selected to perform at Epcot in January and February to represent Apopka through the “Disney Performing Arts” series that will feature ensembles from Central Florida during the next two months. Each band will perform two sets per date! As an added perk, each member will receive one free One Day/One Park ticket for each set they perform! This equals two tickets per performance date! Our performance schedule is as follows:

  • JE2: January 17th, January 20th, and January 31st (9:50 AM and 10:50 AM Performances)
  • JE1: January 24th and February 3rd (9:50 AM and 10:50 AM Performances)

We are both proud of our ensembles and excited for them in this performance opportunity!
