Our week kicked off with a new opportunity for our Student Leadership team to have a mid-season review session with our clinician, Mr. Wansley! During this time, they were able to reflect on all that has transpired in the past two-plus months and how we can continue to grow as a group. This was an outstanding opportunity for our leadership members to challenge each other as well as themselves to better understand the needs that we have moving forward to achieve our goals. Very proud of this session and the positive outcome!

We had a great week in the BDMB that included learning the last few pages of our show and being able to perform the music from the full show this week! The kids pushed and persevered. This was a huge success for us! Looking forward to adding some nuance and direction within the show to begin bringing it home for our audiences! #iegyb

Big week for the BDMB! We are excited about putting our full show on display this week! We have a great week planned to build up our performers and prep them for the task ahead! Very excited to see this all come to life! It is important that we all know and understand the schedule this week – it is going to be incredible! Can’t wait to see Big Blue in action on Thursday and the BDMB live in performance on Saturday at Tarpon! See you there! #iegyb

What A Week! Culminating in a great contest against DP that resulted in a Blue Darter Victory! Very proud of the BDMB for their relentless support of our Boys In Blue! We had an incredible visit this week on Tuesday evening from Coach Rolson who emphasized the importance of what our BDMB brings to the table each Friday and the focus on camaraderie and community that we share as a Friday Night Football Family! We are grateful for your support Coach!

Each of our classes continued to roll up the sleeves and get to work, focusing their efforts on the tedious side of technique and developing the “raw talent” that sits in our rehearsal environment! Great week for the Blue Darter Bands! #iegyb

A short week that flew by! Wow! We had two fantastic days of rehearsals on Thursday and Friday within our classes and our Thursday BMDB rehearsal was great. Then… BAND DAY @ FSU! What a day! Be sure to check out the Facebook Album with all the photos and video clips. We had an incredible day together! It was hot… BUT INCREDIBLE! Truly enjoyed our time together and enjoying the experience that FSU offers of members.

To all of our adults that attended with us…. WE THANK YOU FOR JOINING US AND BEING PART OF THIS EXPERIENCE! I know that it was an intense day of heat and walking and we are so thankful that you gave up your time to join us for the day. You helped make our day as a family a wonderful day! #iegyb

Our first full travel experience is here! Football @ Ocoee High! And…. DRUMROLL PLEASE…. WE ARE USING OUR NEW TRAILER THIS WEEK! Our team of builders have been working SO INCREDIBLY HARD to make this a reality… YOU WILL BE AMAZED! Super excited to see the Blue Darter Band rolling down the road with our new SWAG!

We have planned a great week ahead for our classes to dig in and make some headway within each of our ensemble settings and our BDMB is ready to complete Mvt. 2. Friday at Ocoee we will perform our first movement once more as well as add a pep tune to feature our color guard. We are looking forward to bringing some energy back from FSU and letting it open up on Friday night as we cheer on the Blue Darters!

We will be meeting early to practice going in and out of the trailer as this will be an “all hands on deck” scenario each week that we travel. The Dad’s have it laid out incredibly well and have made it easy to maneuver through the rolling “home away from home”. We will use Friday as a practice run to ensure we understand the expectations for each member and how we will set it up! These are exciting times in the Blue Darter Band! THANK YOU TO OUR TEAM OF BUILDERS! YOU ARE DIFFERENCE MAKERS! #iegyb

We have had an INCREDIBLE WEEK in the Blue Darter Bands! Each of our classes have continued to form and develop into true families within their individual settings. And, our BDMB had an unbelievable start to our slate of Home Games for Blue Darter football! It is an honor to be part of such an awesome group of musicians!

From Pep Rallies, to learning more about our classmates within the performance setting, and watching our own musicians stand in front of the ensemble and teaching, we have had a great Week 3! Looking forward to many, many more incredible opportunities to make music and memories together! #iegyb

Now that we are on the flip side of Dorian, memes aside, please do not let your guard down regarding hurricane preparedness. There are other tropical storms in the Atlantic to watch and stay vigilant to ensure we are ready should anything come up. In addition, as we return to school, let us all be reminded that there is MUCH to be done both academically and musically and it is incumbent upon each of us as stakeholders of AHS to roll up our sleeves and get to work. I hope you have had some incredible time with family and friends during this time away and now it is time to get back at it and continue our journey!

We will hold our normal Thursday rehearsal from 3 PM – 5:30 PM to ensure we are staying on course – and – focusing on Mvt. 2 to prepare to perform it at our football contest against Dr. Phillips on September 20th. We anticipate beginning Mvt. 3 next week! Our goal is to present our entire show postgame at Homecoming! Let’s push forward!

Looking forward to an awesome time at FSU Band Day as we cheer on the Marching Chiefs! Looking forward to some incredible work in each of our classes and getting back to work with each of you! See you on Thursday for our “Monday” classes! 🙂 #iegyb
